Shikha Pandey of India delivered a superb delivery to send Alyssa Healy back to the pavilion in the second T20I against Australia at the Carrara Oval on Saturday. Shikha opened the bowling for the Indian women's cricket team, dismissing opener Healy on the second delivery of the innings after setting Australia a score of 119 to chase. Australia had won the toss earlier in the day and elected to field. India struggled to get off to a good start, losing three wickets for just 24 runs.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain, attempted to rescue the innings by scoring 28 runs before getting bowled. India continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, and it was Pooja Vastrakar's critical unbeaten 37 off 26 balls that allowed India to reach 118/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Only three Indian hitters scored in the double digits, the third being Deepti Sharma with a score of 16.
Tayla Vlaeminck and Sophie Molineux picked three wickets each for the hosts, with the latter finishing with impressive figures of 2/11 from her four overs. The first T20I of the series had to be abandoned due to rain.
